Users seeking to obtain a government specified and accredited certificate should ensure it is a recognised qualification issued by a recommended awarding body i.e. LANTRA, RSPH, City and Guilds.
No other qualifications are now recognised after the 26th of November 2015.
Recognised Training & Certification
All users of aluminium phosphide must obtain a government specified and accredited certificate of competence. Recognised qualifications are issued by City and Guilds, LANTRA and RSPH as follows:
For Vertebrate Control
C&G – Level 2 award in the safe use of aluminium phosphide for vertebrate pest control
RSPH – Level 2 award in using aluminium phosphide safely for the management of vertebrate pests
Lantra – Level 2 award in safe use of aluminium phosphide for vertebrate pest control
For Invertebrate Control
RSPH – Level 3 Award/certificate in the safe use of fumigants for the management of invertebrate pests
To act as fumigator in charge the operator must hold unit 1 and the relevant unit for the discipline being undertaken: –
Unit 2 – containers Unit 3 – commodities under sheets Unit 4 – silos Unit 5 – ships holds Unit 6 – buildings Unit 7 – fumigation chambers Units 8 – specialist fumigation bubbles
If the operator is an experienced fumigator who already holds BPCA fumigation modules in specific disciplines they can continue to act as fumigator in charge provided they pass unit 1 of the above before the end of December 2018.
